When you find out that you are pregnant, or if you suspect that you are pregnant, it is very important that you educate yourself on what will be happening to your body. Maternal and child health is extremely critical and learning as much as you can about health for babies will not only help you, but it will help your child in the long run. So let us begin with the infamous morning sickness.

What is morning sickness? Well, morning sickness can best be described as nausea and vomiting that can actually occur at any time of the day during pregnancy, despite its name. You should note, for your maternal and child health, that morning sickness is very common in pregnant women. Some women experience nausea, while some others will actually have vomiting. It usually begins during the first month of pregnancy and will continue to occur through the 14th to 16th week, which is around the 3rd to 4th month of pregnancy. Health for babies is important, so please note that morning sickness does not hurt the baby in any way. The only time it will actually hurt the baby is if you begin to lose weight because of it, which will happen if you experience severe vomiting.
For the sake of your maternal and child health, it is important to keep a positive attitude. If you would like to reduce the nausea, try eating crackers or dry toast as soon as you wake up, or even right before you get out of bed in the morning. You can even try eating a small snack at bedtime or when getting up to use the restroom at night. Taking these steps will help reduce the amount of nausea you experience.
