By the age of thirty, a woman’s fertility starts to slow and complications increase the chance of complications in pregnancy. It is true that women who get pregnant in their late 30’s and early 40’s are more prone to diabetes, high blood pressure and increased genetic abnormalities. However, the results of a study that observed women who gave birth after the age of 40 found they had a 44 percent reduction on the rate of endometrial cancer compared to women who gave birth before age 25. Even those giving birth later than the age of 40 showed a 33 percent reduction than those who had babies before 25.
The study, led by, assistant professor of preventive medicine V. Wendy Setiawan of the University of Southern California, was published in The American Journal of Epidemiology in July of this year.
